Marketing and Communications Specialist
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Marketing and Development Director, provides coordination of agency donor management system. Provides overall program, technical, logistical, and administrative support to all related direct mail, public relations, marketing initiatives, and special event planning. Provides similar support to the other fundraising and development-related activities and staff as directed by the Marketing and Development Director.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Under the direction of the Marketing and Development Director, assists in preparing donor solicitation materials and printed newsletters. Maintains relationships with outside vendors (printers, designers, etc.) in relation to the direct mail program.
- Creates and ensures accurate and professional promotional materials and all forms of media to effectively convey the Agency’s mission and goals while adhering to the Agency Branding Policy. Adheres to the public relations budget to maximize the dollars available and promote the Agency and its work in the community.
- Works with all departments to create marketing and promotional materials as needed. Maintains relationships with outside vendors to order promotional materials for events, tabling opportunities, and more.
- Responsible for monitoring and updating the Agency website information, including, but not limited to, the online giving, employment opportunities, special events, or donor recognition as directed.
- Responsible for updating the Agency’s social media on an ongoing basis and responding to comments and messages
- Under the direction of the Marketing and Development Director, coordinates the Catholic Charities of Chemung & Schuyler Counties donor management system, including ongoing maintenance, data entry, report generation, and stewardship of donors
- Assists with special events throughout the year, including but not limited to, hunger awareness events, open-house presentations, and other fundraisers or community events for both counties
- Other duties as assigned.
TITLE OF DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Marketing and Development Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree and/or commensurate with position responsibilities.
Minimum of one to three years’ experience in a development and fundraising environment.
Experience in a donor relations environment is preferred.
A combination of education and experience may be substituted at the discretion of the Executive Director.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
- Willingness to foster agency, department, and program-wide cooperation and teamwork through the use of positive/constructive communication techniques.
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in regards to all records reviewed including consumer records, employee records and billing records.
- Proficiency and experience with Microsoft applications, Canva and Hootsuite or similar.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and to handle problem resolution.
- Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver’s record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.
- Continuous use of a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.
- Background checks may be required per program regulations.
- Demonstrate commitment to Agency Mission Statement.
- Compliance: Adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing and documentation standards. All duties must be performed in accordance with CCDR’s corporate compliance and ethics program.

- Salary: $21.00 an hour, 37.5 hours/week (typically Monday – Friday)
