Elmira Community Kitchen

Since the Elmira Community Kitchen first opened its doors in 1981, kind and caring volunteers from local faith communities and organizations have prepared nourishing meals and offered a warm welcome to thousands of neighbors-in-need of all ages each year. In 2019, over 20,000 meals were served!

Our guests include families with children, low-wage working people, persons who are homeless, seniors, persons with disabilities. We have learned over the years that nutritious food and companionship at the table are equally important to human well-being and we offer both.

Our doors remain open because you help us. We are deeply grateful! If you would like to make a secure donation online, click here. If you would prefer to mail your donation, please make checks payable to Catholic Charities (memo: Elmira Community Kitchen) and mail to 215 E. Church St, Elmira, NY 14901. Thank you for helping our neighbors in need!

More than 200 volunteers from 25 local faith communities/organizations (like Rotary & Kiwanis) come to the Elmira Community Kitchen each month to prepare and serve the meals.

Over the years, we’ve learned how important a nutritious meal and companions at the table are to human well-being. Not too long ago, a young adult stopped in to volunteer. He told us that when he was a child, he and his Mom came often for meals and that “we saved them” – so he wanted to volunteer in gratitude!

We rely primarily on donations from the local community to pay the bills that keep the doors open. Thank you for welcoming and feeding our neighbors!
