ELMIRA, NY – Catholic Charities, in partnership with the Elmira Pioneers, invites members of the community to attend an evening of baseball at Dunn Field on Saturday, July 18th. This event aims not only to provide family-friendly entertainment, but also to raise awareness about domestic violence and encourage community engagement in addressing this critical issue.
Domestic violence affects individuals and families across the United States, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. Locally, Catholic Charities’ First Step Victim Services Program supports residents of Chemung and Schuyler Counties who have been a victim of a crime, with particular emphasis on victims of domestic violence. In 2025, the First Step program assisted nearly 225 individuals, delivering more than 3,185 services to those in need. The program maintains a 24-hour hotline, which can be accessed by calling or texting 607-742-9629.
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness, attendees at the July 18th game are encouraged to wear purple. Event activities will include the sale of purple shirts, free face painting, and a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds from these efforts will directly support the First Step program, ensuring the continued provision of essential services to victims within the community.
Tickets for the game may be purchased by calling 607-734-2690. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm, with gates opening at 5:30pm. Giveaways and activities will be available for attendees of all ages.
